« Bi-polar Depression Medications How Anyone Can Develop Telepathy »
Do you really need to know? I mean all of those stories which you read and watch which make you sick to your stomach. Are they benefiting your life at all? Have you ever thought that not watching the news or not reading the papers might be a bit like letting go of the steering wheel of a moving car? That your life might career off into a ditch if you weren’t so ‘informed’? It’s a valid question, and one that deserves an answer. Of course, you and only you know whether you can live without the information that we are bombarded with every day.
For me this all started with a decision to stop reading the news and watching the TV news bulletins. In an effort to inform, the news agencies dredge up all of the bad stuff that happens all over the region (and maybe the world if there isn’t enough bad news in the local area) dramatise it, and broadcast it into your living room. It just isn’t a fair reflection of the reality of the situation, but grossly exaggerated to the negative. After a short while I realised that I was doing far better living in my bubble, than being informed about what was happening in say, the Middle East. I was only aware the US elections were on when someone told me at work. But I was happier for it.
The Western press, especially in the UK, is a well developed and well established business catering to the desires of its readers. This is fine if you’re talking about the ‘West Wiltshire Gazette’, but anywhere where bad stuff might happen more frequently, it always gets reported. Major city newspapers are crammed full of horror stories depicting the sort of activity that you wouldn’t want to talk to your young children about, yet we adults read it eagerly. If it’s too strong for your children, what makes you think you can handle it? It might be time to call a 6pm TV curfew and start watching Newsround. Just a thought.
I know, some people want to read bad news. They just seem to get stuck in the drama of the situation. But it does take its toll; we feel worse, vulnerable, sad, or upset. Many forget the reason we are here at all. Life is supposed to be fun. And everything you want is because you think you will feel better in the having of it. Be it money, relationships, lovers, fame, success, it’s all to feel better. So you might ask ‘Why would anyone do anything that made them feel worse?’ It’s understandable that living in a world of such contrast we’d never be away from things that we didn’t like, but do we have to go looking for trouble?
