« Now Revealed - Napoleon Hill’s Secret   Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) Comprehension »

by Dr. Ann Shorb

Take a look back at the days when you were younger and the school teacher said “There will be an exam in just a few days.” When you heard this you knew it was time to review everything that you had covered.

When you heard these words you knew you needed to kick your studies into high gear. Although you had been studying all along, it was now time to really do a thorough review to make sure you understand everything, since you didn’t know exactly what would be covered on the exam.

You know the Bible is full of reviews, and sometimes I think God wants us to just stop and review. If we look back in the Old Testament, we find in Exodus 15 that Moses did a great job of reviewing. Just after God had brought Israel safely through the Red Sea and had destroyed their enemies behind them.

Exodus 15:1 says, “Then Moses and the children of Israel sang this song unto the Lord.” Then he starts into the song, and the whole song is a review of all the things that God had done for them: how He saved them, how He gave them mercy, how He stretched out His hand and destroyed their enemies, how they had gone through the wilderness, and how He had taken care of them.

Although Moses took the time to review what God had done for his people, he wasn’t alone. There are many Psalms that review the great things that God did for Israel throughout many difficult and trying times. One that stands out is Psalm 18 where David writes that God is his strength.

We can also look in the New Testament. In Hebrews chapter eleven there is a review not only of what God has done but of the faith of many people found in the Old Testament. It talks about faith as the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not seen. The chapter continues then to speak of the faith of Abel, Enoch, Noah and Abraham.

Reviews of what God has done can be a great way to appreciate the things He has done and to praise Him. Take time in your own life to look back and reflect how God has taken care of you and led you to where you are. Count the blessings in your life that exist because of what God has done for you.
