Getting Healthy

by Jeff Cline

With just a little commitment the road to good health can be a smooth journey. I will give you ways to avoid roadblocks and shortcuts to get you there faster. You may want to achieve good health, but just need a little push down the right road. First things first make sure you have adequate health insurance.

One of the first things you can do is to recognize your bad habits. I have always believed that if you write them down you hold yourself more accountable for them. So whether it is smoking, drinking soft drinks or being a couch potato, recognizing the problem is the first step.

Second, I tell them to engrave this little tid bit of information in their heads “it takes about 6 months to make or break a habit.” What this means is you must be consistent and patient. Making a new habit or breaking an old one does not happen over night!

One way we can become more healthy is monitoring what we eat. What we put into our bodies is important to our health. Becoming aware of good and bad food is key to learning to eat more healthy.

Making a vow to get more exercise is a big step down the path of good health. Experts recommend getting at least 30 minutes of exercise at a minimum of 3 times a week. You can make small improvements however to make a difference. Such as parking further at the grocery store and taking the stairs.

Stress can effect our efforts of becoming healthy, so it is important to know how to handle stress. We can hide from it, we all face it now and then. You must learn ways to cope so that it does not effect you negatively.

Relaxation is key to handling stress. Make time to relax. Make it part of your daily routine. Read a book, soak in the tub, take a walk or learn to meditate. It is a great way to deal with the stresses of life.

Everyone should have a means of relieving the daily stressors. Perhaps, the use of a stress ball, sports or crafting. Learning to relax is essential to good health. Too much stress can harm our immune systems. If you are thinking of becoming pregnant you should always consult a doctor before starting a new health regimen. If you do not have health benefits.
