Being sensitive to the different religions practices is extremely important. When you think of a funeral you also think of flowers. Most people send flowers as a nonspecific gift. Unfortunately it is easy to send the wrong flowers. Most Christian religions it is not important what type or style of flower you send but others it is not so easy.
It is polite to send flowers to a Christian funeral and usually the family says whether or not you are to send them to the church, grave yard, or wake. Other religions are not so lenient. In the Jewish faith it is inappropriate to send any kind of flower.

Another religion that flowers are welcomed regardless of type is the Mormon religion. It is appropriate to send flowers but not in the shape of a cross. In Eastern Orthodox flowers are appropriate especially white ones.
When you are sending flowers it is important to be sensitive about which religion the deceased practices. Some religions believe in sending flowers, others do not. Most of the time it is not deeply offensive to violate tradition but you do not want to make this time any worse for the family.
